Ingredients
• 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
• 1½ tsp baking powder
• ¼ tsp salt
• 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
• 1 cup (200g) sugar
• 4 large eggs
• ½ cup (120ml) milk
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 2 tbsp (15g) unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 tbsp (30ml) hot water
Instructions
• Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan. Line with parchment paper.
• In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
• In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
• Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
• Add the dry ingredients alternately with milk, mixing gently until smooth.
• Divide the batter into two portions. In one portion, mix cocoa powder and hot water until well blended.
• Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the prepared loaf pan. Swirl lightly with a skewer or knife to create a marbled effect.
• Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
• Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
