Ingredients:
2 slices of whole wheat or white bread
4 strips of bacon
2 large leaves of lettuce (romaine or iceberg)
2 slices of ripe tomato
1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels to remove excess grease.
While the bacon is cooking, toast the bread slices until golden brown.
If using mayonnaise, spread a thin layer on one side of each slice of toast.
Layer the lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and crispy bacon on one slice of toast.
Season with salt and pepper to taste, then top with the second slice of bread.
Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
